To require the Department of Education and the State Board of Education to solicit input from a new 13-member committee on revisions to teacher certification rules and new teacher mentorship practices. The Speaker of the House and the Senate Majority Leader would each appoint five members to the committee, and the governor would appoint three. All the members would be public school teachers, principals, school board members, or teachers college personnel. The state Superintendent of Public Instruction would then be required to revise the rules in accord with the committee's recommendations.
