2005 House Bill 4600

Repeal telecom price controls

Introduced in the House

April 13, 2005

Introduced by Rep. Leon Drolet (R-33)

To repeal the authority of the Michigan Public Service Commission to regulate and set retail service prices for landline telephones. The commission would still have the authority to regulate abusive practices such as “slamming,” etc., and to enforce federal telecommunications regulations. The bill also prohibits a governmental entity from providing communications services except for its own use.
