2005 House Bill 4705

Allow state employee MSA option

Introduced in the House

May 3, 2005

Introduced by Rep. Jim Marleau (R-46)

To allow (but not require) the Department of Civil Service to implement and administer a Health Savings Account (HSA) plan to state employees. HSAs and Medical Savings Accounts (MSAs) combine a lower-cost high deductible health insurance plan with an IRA-like tax-deferred savings account owned by the employee. Routine health care expenses are paid from this account, and the employee gets to keep unexpended funds.

Referred to the Committee on Insurance
