2005 House Bill 5365

Impose motor fuel minimum price controls

Introduced in the House

Oct. 25, 2005

Introduced by Rep. Tom Casperson (R-108)

To prohibit gas stations from selling motor fuel for less than their cost, punishable by triple damages paid to a competitor who complains. The bill does not include a provision to allow cheap gas to be sold as a “loss leader,” which is a common practice used in the sale of other retail merchandise.
