2005 Senate Bill 198

HSA SBT credit

Introduced in the Senate

Feb. 15, 2005

Introduced by Sen. Bruce Patterson (R-7)

To authorize a non-carry forwardable Single Business Tax (SBT) credit equal to a contributions made by a firm to an employee’s Health Savings Account (HSA). HSAs and Medical Savings Accounts (MSAs) combine a high deductible health insurance plan, which is much less costly than standard health insurance, with an IRA-like tax-deferred savings account owned by the employee. Routine health care expenses less than the insurance deductible amount are paid from this account.
