2005 Senate Bill 311

Require auto insurance cancellation notice

Introduced in the Senate

March 16, 2005

Introduced by Sen. Dennis Olshove (D-9)

To require auto insurance companies to notify the Secretary of State if a policyholder’s no-fault insurance policy expires without being renewed, is terminated, or is canceled. Under Michigan’s no-fault insurance law drivers are required to have insurance when they register and operate a vehicle, but there is no system to monitor whether the insurance is cancelled after registration.
