2005 Senate Bill 528

Repeal telecom price controls

Introduced in the Senate

May 24, 2005

Introduced by Sen. Shirley Johnson (R-13)

To repeal the authority of the Michigan Public Service Commission to regulate and set retail service prices for landline telephones. The commission would still have the authority to regulate abusive practices such as “slamming,” etc., and to enforce federal telecommunications regulations. The bill also prohibits a governmental entity from providing communications services, except for its own use.
