Introduced in the Senate

May 26, 2005

Introduced by Sen. Virg Bernero (D-23)

And disclosures to require municipal and other water suppliers to perform testing for the presence of lead or copper in the water, and establish standards for the testing. Also, to require a supplier to notify households that it knows to be served by a lead water service line. The bill was introduced after news reports were published indicating that a number of older houses served by the Lansing Board of Water and Light have lead service pipes, and that residents of these houses should flush their pipes daily before drinking the water.
