2005 Senate Bill 862

Tax breaks for health insurance “wellness” plans

Introduced in the Senate

Nov. 3, 2005

Introduced by Sen. Tom George (R-20)

To authorize a refundable state income tax credit for the cost of the premiums paid by an individual who enrolls in one of the insurance or HMO “wellness plans” proposed by Senate Bills 848 and 849, and who can demonstrate maintenance or improvement of the health status of the individual or a family member. “Refundable” means that the taxpayer receives a check for the amount of the credit that exceeds the amount of tax owed.
