2006 House Bill 5677

Adopt uniform power of attorney law

Introduced in the House

Feb. 14, 2006

Introduced by Rep. Lorence Wenke (R-63)

To establish a uniform power of attorney act that would be essentially the same in all states, and so would be "portable" and recognized by other states. The bill would establish the conditions and procedures for granting power of attorney, and define the duties, responsibilities, extent and limits of the power granted. This would also establish and define durable power of attorney for incapacitated individuals. Power of attorney authorizes one person to act on behalf of another, most importantly in financial transactions and health care decisions.
