2006 House Bill 6583

Welfare reform package

Introduced in the House

Sept. 20, 2006

Introduced by Rep. Tom Pearce (R-73)

To require the state Department of Human Services to determine the states of residence for welfare applicants who have resided in Michigan for less than one year and who assert that they have not received cash or other welfare assistance from other states, and to confirm whether the this is true. The number of months that assistance was received from another state would apply to the 48 month lifetime limit on cash welfare payments to able-bodied recipients proposed by House Bills 6580 and 6585.
