To establish a nonprofit entity called the “Center for Safe Health Care,” with members appointed by the governor to “provide statewide leadership, information, and training and advocacy for improving patient safety; to create a safer health care environment; and to reduce patient harm.” Alternatively, the governor could designate an existing entity to do these things. A segregated state fund would be created from which appropriations would be made to pay for the center, with the money going through the Department of Community Health.
