To require the Department of Environmental Quality to regularly update the list required under <a href="http://www.michiganvotes.org/2003-SB-502">Public Act 37 of 2003</a> of countries, states, provinces, and local jurisdictions that have and enforce solid waste standards as stringent as those in Michigan. That law prohibited the disposal in Michigan landfills of out-of-state and out-of-country solid waste unless the state or country has solid waste standards as stringent as those in Michigan. The bill would require localities be removed from the permitted list if an inspection program found three or more loads of garbage from them contained prohibited items.
