To prohibit a medical malpractice expert witness from accepting payment at a rate that exceeds the rate for comparable time and expertise (under current law contingency fees based on winning a case are already prohibited); and require the witness to disclose the amount of time he or she spent in the previous year providing expert witness testimony. The bill also requires an expert witness who is a health professional licensed in another state to get the limited license under House Bill 4724.
