To require restaurants to disclose on menus or on table tents whether waitstaff earn the minimum wage for tipped staff. Under current law it is unlawful to pay a person less than $7.15 an hour. For tipped employees, the mandated pay is the same, but the employer must pay at least $2.65 of the amount, with the balance coming from tips. If the tips plus the $2.65 do not add up to $7.15, the employer must make up the difference.
