To require Intermediate School District boards (or the board of a school district that has its own truancy officers) and county prosecutors to jointly develop a local truancy policy that includes clear definitions and protocols for enforcing state truancy laws. Also, to increase the penalty on the parents of a truant, to a fine of between $50 and $500, up to 93 days in jail, or up to 50 hours of community service. The current penalty is a fine of $5 to $50, and up to 90 days in jail..
