2007 House Bill 5575

Increase medical waste disposal regulations and fees

Introduced in the House

Dec. 13, 2007

Introduced by Rep. Fred Miller (D-31)

To impose new regulations on medical waste disposal procedures, expand the list of entities subject to these regulations, require new medical waste treatment technology to be reviewed and approved by the state (including $500 fees on manufacturers or providers for each review), and more. The bill also increases the fees and regulations on health care providers and other entities that generate medical waste, and it adds to the Public Health Code the same registration and regulation of “trauma scene waste management practitioners” that is proposed by House Bill 5574.
