2007 Senate Bill 272

Lower unemployment premiums during road closures

Introduced in the Senate

Feb. 22, 2007

Introduced by Sen. Jason Allen (R-37)

To not include unemployment insurance benefits paid to a worker laid off because a temporary road closure limits access to a business in the calculations used to determine how high an insurance premium the firm should be charged. Under Michigan’s mandatory unemployment insurance law employers pay premiums based on their layoff experience.
