2007 Senate Bill 971

Authorize tax subsidies for certain retailers

Introduced in the Senate

Dec. 6, 2007

Introduced by Sen. Hansen Clarke (D-1)

To authorize the creation of up to 20 tax free “renaissance zones” for retailers in downtown areas. The zones would have to be within a Downtown Development Authority district, contain at least 20 separate parcels, be contiguous, and meet certain other requirements. Preference would be given when selecting the zones to ones in which the DDA was cooperating, and which contain one of the “incubators” authorized by Senate Bill 970.
