2008 Senate Bill 1027

Restrict insurer pricing considerations

Introduced in the Senate

Jan. 22, 2008

Introduced by Sen. Hansen Clarke (D-1)

To prohibit insurers from setting premium prices on the basis of a customer’s socioeconomic characteristics or credit rating, and repeal Michigan’s “file and use” insurance rate regulatory system, replacing it with one that instead requires insurers to wait for permission from the state to adjust their rate schedules.
