2008 Senate Bill 1154

Appropriations: 2008-2009 Higher Education budget

Introduced in the Senate

Feb. 28, 2008

Introduced by Sen. Jim Barcia (D-31)

The executive recommendation for the Fiscal Year (FY) 2008-2009 higher education budget. This would appropriate $1.799 billion in gross spending, of which all but $7.4 million is general fund and other money raised in this state. This compares to $1.896 appropriated in FY 2007-2008, which was inflated by the inclusion of a delayed disbursement from the previous year’s budget. Schools would get increases of between 2.3 and 6.2 percent based on factors such as the number of low-income students, graduation rates, and amount of research and technology transfer.
