2009 House Bill 4255

Require 50 percent of road projects go to local contractors

Introduced in the House

Feb. 11, 2009

Introduced by Rep. Coleman Young (D-4)

To establish that the various competitive bid requirements, preferences and mandates that apply to other state government procurement activities, including preferences for in-state vendors, do not apply to Department of Transportation contracts (which are primarily road projects.) Instead, these contracts would be subject to the mandate proposed by House Bill 4826, which would impose a 50 percent local contractors mandate.
