2009 House Bill 4954

Revise truck fuel tax allocation

Introduced in the House

May 19, 2009

Introduced by Rep. John Proos (R-79)

To replace the sales tax on diesel fuel delivered into trucks with International Fuel Tax Agreement stickers with a new 6 percent “specific tax.” Sales tax money mostly goes to schools, while the specific tax would go to roads. IFTA is an agreement among most states and Canadian provinces that standardizes fuel use tax reporting by truckers operating in multiple jurisdictions.
