To require certain candidates and officeholders to file personal financial disclosure statements that include the names of all of the person's immediate family members; his or her employer; the source and amount of income for the candidate, spouse and immediate family members during the past year, and any gifts; a list of assets; certain transactions and liabilities; business ownerships; any trustee, director, etc. positions held in a business, union, non-profit, educational or other institution; any future employment agreements, including leave-of-absence agreements; and more. The mandate would apply to candidates for governor, lieutenant governor, secretary of state, attorney general, state senator, state representative, State Board of Education, elected state and university board members, Supreme Court justice, the head of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, local offices that pay more than 1.5 times the state median income, and all current holders of those positions.
