2009 Senate Bill 532

Mandate insurance price cut

Introduced in the Senate

May 5, 2009

Introduced by Sen. Samuel B. Thomas (D-4)

To force insurance companies to lower auto and homeowners insurance rates by 20 percent. Presumably companies unable to cover costs and anticipated claims at the lower price, or unwilling to accept the lower return on investment, would be prohibited from selling insurance in Michigan after the mandate is imposed.
