2010 House Bill 5919

Require state employee HSA option

Introduced in the House

March 3, 2010

Introduced by Rep. Tom McMillin (R-45)

To require the state to offer state employees a Health Savings Account (HSA) option for their health insurance. HSAs combine a lower-cost high deductible health insurance plan with an IRA-like tax-deferred savings account owned by the employee. Routine health care expenses are paid from this account, and the employee gets to keep unexpended funds..
