To extend the Dec. 31, 2011 sunset on the 7/8ths cent-per-gallon gas and refined petroleum tax originally levied for the cleanup of underground fuel tanks, but is now diverted to other government spending following a 2004 “<a href="http://www.michiganvotes.org/2008-SB-55">fund raid</a>” that was enacted to avoid reductions in state spending. The bill would extend the tax through 2015.
