To add a provision to the state law that governs the formation of business corporations to allow charter of so-called “triple benefit corporations,” which are ones that would make serving the “interests of all of its stakeholders, including shareholders, employees, contractors, creditors, customers, suppliers, society at large, and the physical world in which it operates” equal in priority to making a profit and creating wealth. Language in the proposed law would give such corporations explicit authority to engage in political or legislative activities that “further the interests of all of the stakeholders equally and not just the interests of the corporation or its industry”.
