2011 House Bill 4817

Expand pension income tax exemption

Introduced in the House

June 28, 2011

Introduced by Rep. Brandon Dillon (D-75)

To repeal an “either/or” detail of Gov. Rick Snyder's tax reform and business tax cut, that allows a person age 67 and above to exempt up to $20,000 in pension income ($40,000 for a joint return), but only if the person doesn’t also take the income tax personal exemption and the exemption for Social Security income. The bill would allow a person to take all three exemptions.
