2012 House Bill 5747

Increase Medicaid fraud penalties

Introduced in the House

June 14, 2012

Introduced by Rep. John Olumba (D-5)

To increase the penalties for committing fraud against the government Medicaid program. The bill would increase fines by 15 percent, so they would be a maximum of $57,500 for medical providers and $11,500 for Medicaid benefit recipients. Current law also authorizes triple damages, which would not change.
