2012 House Bill 6065

Extend “conscientious objector” protection to counselor students

Introduced in the House

Nov. 29, 2012

Introduced by Rep. Tom McMillin (R-45)

To prohibit the board that establishes licensure standards for professional counselors from approving a university counseling education program unless it protects the rights of students faced with situations that conflict with their religious beliefs. This was the subject of a recent lawsuit filed by a Christian counseling student who objected to being required to provide counseling to a person who is a homosexual.
