To transfer $3 million from the Department of Civil Rights budget to local school districts, “to reimburse them for the cost of mascots, uniforms, signage, billboards, gym resurfacing, flags, and other expenses that are made necessary as a direct result of the complaint” the department filed with the U.S. Department of Education over the use by schools of American Indian-related “mascots” or nicknames (such as “Braves” or “Chiefs”).
