To prohibit legislators from requiring monetary campaign contributions from legislative staff members as a condition of employment. Note: Michigan legislators typically use staffers to do campaign work “back in the district,’ mostly in the form of “door knocking” at households with a history of voting in primary elections. Legislative staffers get generous vacation allowances, and while politicking is not an explicit quid pro quo it is “expected” in most cases. However, very few staffers give monetary campaign contributions.
