2017 House Bill 5196

Require "comprehensive sexuality” classes in public schools

Introduced in the House

Oct. 31, 2017

Introduced by Rep. Adam Zemke (D-55)

To revise and potentially expand the sex education classes that may be offered in public schools, by including the term “sexuality” classes in some references in the statute. The classes would have to include “comprehensive sexuality education that is medically accurate and age-appropriate for all grade levels,” as these terms are defined in the bill, which among other things includes references to definitions promoted by federal centers for disease control and prevention. Neither the bill nor current law define “sexuality”.
