To establish that when a psychological examination is requested to determine whether a defendant is competent to stand trial, only one 15 day extension may be granted on an existing 60 day deadline on submitting a report on the exam. The bill would also require the Department of Corrections to work with state health authorities to certify facilities qualified to do these exams.
