To require the Department of Education to give $1,000 grants each year to one or more “teachers of the year” from each of the state’s “prosperity regions,” which are defined by their regional economic and land-use planning collaboratives. These teachers would then have to attend monthly meetings of the state Board of Education and attend public school-related state and national events. This is part of a Democratic teacher incentives package comprised of Senate Bills 764 to 782.
