To set the compensation paid to person appointed to manage the distribution of former Blue Cross Blue Shield money at the same amount given to the Speaker of the state House and Majority Leader of the state Senate (currently salaries of $71,685 plus a $23,400 supplement). The money in a Blue Cross Blue Shield trust fund was accumulated by the insurer due to tax breaks granted when it served as the state’s “insurer of last resort” for uninsurable individuals. That status became obsolete with the passage of Obamacare, and the money was turned over to a trust fund to essentially augment government medical welfare and public health programs.
