To revise the state minimum wage law enacted by the legislature in response to a 2018 initiative, by expanding its ban on paying differential wages on the basis of sex to also apply to membership in a protected class established by the state’s civil rights law (religion, race, color, national origin, age, sex, height, weight, or marital status). Employers in violation would be subject to the sanctions authorized by that law. This is part of a Democratic pay equity package comprised of House Bills 4629 to 4639.
