To revise a detail of public school reading intervention program authorized by a 2016 law,. The bill would establish that the teacher of a kindergartener who exhibits a reading deficiency, difficulty or disability defined as in that law could delay putting the child in an individual reading improvement plan if in the teacher’s judgement the problem can be fixed without doing so. Also, to expand the authority of school districts to assign a child to an individual reading improvement plan based on factors specified in the bill.
