To no longer rate teachers using a scale ranging from “highly effective” to “ineffective,” and instead rate teachers as either “effective” or “needs support.” Also, the current requirement to dismiss teachers rated “ineffective” for three years running would be repealed; teacher assessments would no longer be conducted annually; the portion of a teacher’s assessment formed by actual progress of students on standardized tests would be reduced; and certain other teacher effectiveness measures adopted by recent legislatures would also be repealed or reduced.
