To revise a “net metering” mandate imposed on utilities, which requires them to purchase electricity from customers who generate small amounts, including ”microgrid” net metering arrangements in which a number of people subscribe to local solar or wind facility that sells electricity to the utility and distributes the proceeds to subscribers. The bill is part of a package comprised of Senate Bills 596 to 598 that would increase the amount that utilities (and their other customers) must pay for the electricity these projects generate, and eliminate caps on the number of net metering generators that may participate.
