2019 Senate Bill 416

Authorize expungement of individuals’ marijuana records

Introduced in the Senate

Aug. 20, 2019

Introduced by Sen. Jeff Irwin (D-18)

To automatically “set aside” possession and use violations of Michigan’s repealed marijuana prohibition law from individuals’ criminal history records as of Jan. 1, 2020. Individuals with marijuana trafficking convictions could apply for expungement, which courts would have to grant as long as the violation did not violate the state new recreational marijuana law.
