To revise details of how money is allocated and distributed to and from a bottle deposit fund, which gets money from unredeemed deposits paid by consumers on beverage purchases. Under current law, 75 percent of the money goes to a state fund for environmental cleanups and 25 percent goes to retailers to compensate for deposit over-redemptions. Under the bill 40 percent would go to environmental cleanups, 25 percent to retailers, 20 percent to beverage distributors and 15 percent to state and local police to enforce provisions of the state "Bottle Bill" the bill more money would go to recycling programs and environmental regulation enforcement.
