To give teachers and parents in public schools that were closed to live instruction during the COVID-19 epidemic a $500 tax credit, and $1,000 if they file jointly, against tutoring, computer and internet expenses incurred in each of the 2020 and 2021 tax years. The money would be delivered in the form of a tax reduction for those who owe at least that much in state income tax, and in tax breaks and cash to those who owe less. Parents who file a single return would be ineligible if their income is more than $50,000, while those who file joint returns could earn up to $100,000 and still collect. All public school teachers would be eligible for the money or tax break regardless of income.
