The non-education portion of the executive budget recommendation proposed by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer for the fiscal year that begins Oct. 1, 2020. This would appropriate $61.897 billion, of which $23.866 billion is federal money and the rest comes from state tax and fee payers. Senate Bill 801, the Governor’s omnibus education budget proposal, would spend another $17.504 billion, of which $1.873 billion is federal money. Altogether, the two budgets propose spending $60.204 billion during the next fiscal year, of which $37.078 billion would come from state taxes and fees. Senate Bill 801 contains the Governor’s education budget recommendation.
