To revise a detail of the law that prescribes the process by which school districts calculate current enrollment for purposes of collecting state school aid funding, which is distributed on the basis of current enrollment numbers. The bill would require the school district where a child resides to give a reason to a “receiving district” if it denies that district permission to get state funds for the child. This would not apply to a “schools of choice” program that lets parents send their children to a neighboring school district if it has openings, which then gets state school aid dollars under a “money follows the child” policy.
