To establish an armed “school safety guardian” program in public schools, who could be a teacher or other existing school employee, or an individual hired for the purpose. This person would have to take a 144-hour training program with eight hours of instruction in defensive tactics, 12 hours on legal issues, 16 hours of “precision pistol” shooting lessons, eight hours of discretionary shooting instruction in state-of-the-art simulators, and eight hours of instruction in active shooter or assailant scenarios. The individual would also have to pass a psychological evaluation, pass a drug test and more.
