To impose licensure on individuals wishing to enter the occupation of “music therapy,” including regulations, a 1,200 hour training regime that includes 180 hours of “preinternship experiences” and a least 900 hours in “internship experiences,” examinations, college degree prerequisites, $148 annual license fees, certification from an entity in the business of providing certifications and more. The bill would create a Michigan Music Therapy Board comprised of incumbent providers, who would be empowered to impose additional requirements that new entrants must meet, or waive requirements for certain individuals.
