A bill to amend 1990 PA 319, entitled “An act to prohibit local units of government from imposing certain restrictions on the ownership, registration, purchase, sale, transfer, transportation, or possession of pistols, other firearms, or pneumatic guns, ammunition for pistols or other firearms, or components of pistols or other firearms,” by amending section 3 (MCL 123.1103), as amended by 2015 PA 29.
Proposes amendments to the 1990 PA 319, which restricts local governments from imposing certain regulations on firearms and related items. The amendments outlined in the bill would allow local governments to: regulate conduct with firearms that is a criminal offense under state law; regulate the transportation, carrying, or possession of firearms by government employees during their employment; require supervision for individuals under 16 possessing pneumatic guns, with exceptions for private property; prohibit the threatening display of pneumatic guns; and prohibit the open carry of firearms within the local government's jurisdiction.
