A bill to amend 1978 PA 368, entitled “Public health code,” (MCL 333.1101 to 333.25211) by adding part 95A.
Establishes a Trigger Lock Distribution Program. This program mandates that hospitals, local health departments, and health professionals provide a trigger lock and educational materials about the risks of unlocked firearms to minors to parents or expecting parents under specific circumstances, such as after childbirth or during well-baby visits up to the infant's 6-month check-up. The educational materials, developed by the department, are to be written in easily understandable language.
